LUNGOMARE DEL RITROVO
Regeneration of the Waterfront Di Levante
The crossovers studio focused on mapping the Genoa coastline, exploring access points, borders, and transition zones between land and sea. The project proposes a prototype pavilion and tensegrity bridge system that addresses the rigid divide between the built city and the coastal edge.
The transparent, modular architecture dissolves boundaries between urban fabric and shoreline, creating a fluid system that reconnects Genoa’s flattened ground with the permeability of the beach. Bridges at multiple levels—water, ground, and air—link the pavilions, forming an open, public structure that invites movement, discovery, and engagement with the sea.
The design’s lightweight steel structure, cross-braced with cables and detailed with perforated metal floors and sunshades, enhances its lucid presence. This architectural intervention reclaims and reactivates Genoa’s coastal public spaces, restoring access and reimagining the city’s relationship to its maritime edge.
